At The Four Ferns we believe in listening to and acting on feedback from our residents and our residents families. The team at The Four Ferns are determined to provide the very best for our residents and we consider ongoing feedback essential to achieving this. As with all feedback people are often more comfortable sharing their experience if their feedback is given and reported anonymously.
Research is carried out by Cemplicity. We check in with residents and families on several occasions during their time with us to ensure their experiences with us as The Four Ferns are captured. The information that is shared is sent directly to Cemplicity who include that information with the feedback from our other residents. We receive the feedback anonymously but in a way that we can take actions if needed.
Inhouse GP Service
Residents of The Fern Dean have access to our inhouse GP and his team.
Doctor Geraint Warlow MB BCh (Wales) BSc (Wales) PGDip (Warwick) MRCGP is the clinical lead for the GP service which is the only Irish GP clinic dedicated to residents of nursing homes.
A balanced and tailored approach to care is taken. What is right for one resident, may not be right for the next. The team are here to listen to everyone – firstly the residents but also those around them to find the right path and anticipate and work through some of the challenges ahead.
Doctor Geraint Warlow has a keen interest in complex care and medicine for the elderly.
Nurse Sarah Toland RN (TCD) RNP works alongside Dr Geraint Warlow and has worked in general practice for 14 years. She provides chronic disease care including diabetes, asthma and COPD. Sarah coordinates the in-house bone health service and is a registered nurse prescriber.
Services & Therapies
The Four Ferns offers a team of medical experts and services to look after the care of our residents. These include Nurses, GPs, Infection Control Manager, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Speech & Language therapists, Dietitians. We provide pharmacy, chiropody, optical, dental, mobile x-ray, 24 hour Dr on Call services. We also work with Old Age Psychiatry and Palliative care teams as appropriate.
The Four Ferns will also offer the residents an extensive list of social care activities that will assist them mentally and physically as well as activities that they will enjoy. There will also be activities that will integrate The Four Ferns residents into the local community.
Infection Control
Robust infection control has been central to healthcare for many decades. Our state of the art facility plays a key role in reducing the spread of infection. We operate the different floors on The Four Ferns as distinct, separated units. The nurses and care staff on the different floors have different entrances into the building. Each floor has their own changing and break rooms to remove any chance of cross over and interaction of staff from different units.
Our team receive continuous training on infection prevention and control measures. We maintain regular communication with the HSE, HIQA, the St Vincents Hospital Group and other healthcare experts.
We have always maintained Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplies and our team wear PPE as appropriate. We have meticulous house keeping cleaning procedures in place including all of our rooms being cleaned twice daily. We have hand hygiene pumps dotted everywhere. We have power assisted doors and and auto sanitisers in place.
