The Four Ferns is a newly built, luxury care facility located in Foxrock village. As well as an experienced healthcare team it also offers non-clinical, elegant accommodation and 5 star services. Our team provides excellent care in luxurious modern surroundings for those in need of convalescence or additional care. We focus on maintaining quality of life and restoring wellness.
We work with patients, following surgery, after they have been discharged from acute hospitals. We provide intensive rehabilitation so you can get back to feeling yourself.
We also offer care for when families or carers need occasional respite support for someone for short periods of time.
Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy
At The Four Ferns we know that therapy will be important to your rehabilitation. Our healthcare team includes physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Our physiotherapists will help you overcome an injury or short-term health problem as well as managing any chronic conditions. The team will devise a personalised programme for you that can include the use of strength training and exercises to help improve coordination and balance.
An occupational therapist (or OT as they are commonly known) identifies activities that can be more challenging after surgery. Our OT can conduct an assessment and will help by adapting a task and recommending changes to make it easier. Perhaps following a hip replacement it may be more difficult to get in and out of the bath. Our OT can teach an alternative method to do the activity. These simple, yet specific, things that can make a big difference. Our OT will use a range of techniques to improve your ability.
Accommodation
Our resident rooms are light and airy, decorated in colours and fabrics selected from a subtle palette. Most important of all, our rooms are comfortable and inviting, featuring floor to ceiling windows that offer beautiful views overlooking our landscaped gardens.
Each room is equipped with multi-line telephones, nurse call system, cable/satellite television with movies available on demand and a luxurious armchair. All bedrooms contain spacious en-suite bathrooms fitted with contemporary bathroom furniture and fittings.
Infection Control
Robust infection control has been central to healthcare for many decades. Our state of the art facility plays a key role in reducing the spread of infection. We operate the the different floors on The Four Ferns as distinct, separated units. The nurses and care staff on the different floors have different entrances into the building. Each floor has their own changing and break rooms to remove any chance of cross over and interaction of staff from different units.
Our team receive continuous training on infection prevention and control measures. We maintain regular communication with the HSE, HIQA, the St Vincents Hospital Group and other healthcare experts.
We have always maintained Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplies and our team wear PPE as appropriate. We have meticulous house keeping cleaning procedures in place including all of our rooms being cleaned twice daily. We have hand hygiene pumps dotted everywhere. We have power assisted doors and and auto sanitisers in place. Our most recent purchase is a D-GATE disinfection gate. This takes precautions to the next level and efficiently kills viruses carried on your body to limit unnecessary spreading of infection. An array of nozzles apply the disinfectant fog equally and efficiently over various surfaces and the persons clothing to quickly keep bacteria and viruses without negative effects for the users or the environment.
